What started out as a temporary internship at San Diego State University turned into a career choice for Program Director Bernicemina Molina. As a psychology intern at an adult day program she first experienced working with those suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease. She says, “I remember hearing about the lack of education and the stigma surrounding the disease.”
Towards the end of her internship her grandfather passed away from complications of Alzheimer’s. She wanted to know more about how to help this population. Bernice went on to pursue her master’s degree in social work at the University of Southern California where she had the opportunity to work with elderly veterans who suffered from Alzheimer’s.
